LT Channel Drain System
SportsEdge LT is designed to provide a cost effective drainage system for high school and municipal track facilities. Today’s sophisticated track materials require proper drainage if they are expected to provide years of service life.
Like the SportsEdge PRO drainage and turf anchoring system, SportsEdge LT components blend with track surfacing to provide a functional and attractive method for draining and bordering a track with a natural grass or a synthetic turf field. Typically installed inside the measuring line between the track and field, LT channels can also be used in the “D” area, at bleachers, and even in asphalt or concrete sidewalks.
Safety of the athletes is a major concern for schools, athletes, parents and coaches and it is the number one benefit of SportsEdge LT. This system is designed so the finished installation has a zero or minimal elevation change at finished grade. Catch basins and their hazardous drainage swales can be eliminated. One of the purposes of a good perimeter drainage system is to widen the field of play inside the track, especially for soccer. By eliminating the tripping hazards and visual distractions, the SportsEdge LT is the safest high school track drainage system available.
Economy. For a similar cost to traditional drainage schemes with catch basins and drainage swales, LT provides continuous surface inlet capability. By replacing the traditional catch basin layout, LT eliminates the need for expensive structures and large subsurface pipe sizes. Debris is screened above ground by the LT grates so drainage pipe sizes can be reduced to handle only the hydraulic load. With the LT's continuous grating, inlet capacity is 5–10 times greater than a typical catch basin layout.
Performance. A good drainage system will protect the expensive track surfacing materials from ponding water and make the facility playable soon after a rainfall event. LT drainage system capacity can be designed to local conditions. Simply use the correct number of equally spaced #900LT catch basins within the layout that exceeds the expected hydraulic load.
The accessibility for maintenance with the removable grates makes the LT system the most functional and economical track system available. There is no need for special curved channels for the radius. Channel tolerances allow curved installation from 27 to 40 meter (90 to 130 foot) radii without affecting drainage performance. In addition, the ”H“ edging is provided in 3 meter lengths that are staggered over the channel joints during installation. The end result is a clean, unbroken appearance around the radius. There are no channel joints or openings visible in the finished project.

Catch Basin
Half meter long SE900LT catch basins can be located anywhere in the layout to facilitate storm drain connections. Basins are the same width as the channels so they blend seamlessly into the layout and can accommodate up to 12″ CMP, HDPE or PVC pipe. Half meter versions of the grates are available to fit the 900LT. Galvanized steel trash buckets are also available for debris clean out.
Channels
SportsEdge LT channels are made from durable polymer concrete, a blend of high-grade polyester resin and quartz aggregates. Polymer concrete provides outstanding physical characteristics compared with Portland cement or plastics. Channels are resistant to ultra violet degradation and chemical attack and are impervious to freeze-thaw cycles. A low coefficient of thermal expansion assures that channels will stay in place for a long service life.
Channel features include a smooth interior surface for superior flow characteristics, interlocking ends and the exclusive LT grate lock system.

Grates & Edges
The LT426 grates are made from galvanized steel in one meter and one-half meter lengths. The LT426 grates offer a long service life at an economical cost. The “H” Edging is manufactured from a flexible polyvinyl chloride compound with UV stabilizers. Three meter lengths allow the final installation to present a clean, unbroken appearance.
The locking devices consist of a bolt and threaded grate retainer. The bolt passes through the hole in the grate and the retainer fits into the penetrations in the channel sidewall. The LT426 grate remains visible in the finished installation. The grate rests in the seat created by the two “H” edges, which are set over the channel edge. Urethane, latex, concrete or sod can be placed level with the top of the “H” edge creating a flush surface condition.
